Interactive guide:

If your team has been answering questions in Slack for a while, there's already a lot of valuable knowledge buried in old threads. Question Base helps you surface that information through a one-time import of previously answered questions — so you don’t have to start from a blank page.

You can then review and verify this knowledge, turning it into a trusted FAQ that your team can continue to grow and use directly in Slack.

Getting Started: Add Your Question Base Bot to Slack and Import Conversation History

Getting started with Question Base in Slack is quick and easy. Here’s how:

  1. Add the bot to your channel
Open Slack and type /invite @questionbase in the channel where you want Question Base to be active. This gives the bot permission to access and analyze conversations in that channel.
  2. Choose to convert 30 or 90 days of chat history into FAQ
To import your conversation history, you’ll need to visit questionbase.ai, go to Settings, and select the channels you want the import in, as well as the duration - 30 or 90 days. This will trigger AI to analyze past conversations from your Slack channels and create an FAQ out of them.

Importing Your Slack Conversations: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough

How it works

Once you’ve installed Question Base in Slack and invited it to key channels, we help you import a selection of previously asked and answered questions from those channels.

We do not store or search your Slack history continuously — this is a manual import that gives you a jumpstart by turning past know-how into reusable knowledge.

In the Question Base web app, you'll find a list of imported Q&As that were identified as potentially helpful.

Managing Your AI-Generated Questions and Answers: Verification, Review, and Organization

After the import completes, you'll see all the questions Question Base has generated from your Slack conversations. Each answer initially shows as "Unverified" to reflect it's AI-generated status. Click on any question to review its answer and the original Slack conversation it was extracted from.

Keep Your Knowledge Base Clean and Accurate

  1. Review and Verify: Check each answer for accuracy. If it’s correct, click Verify to mark it as expert-approved, making it easy for your team to spot trusted information.
  2. Remove Outdated Answers: Delete any outdated or irrelevant answers to keep your knowledge base clean and useful.
  3. View Full Context: Need more context? Click Slack Conversation to see the original discussion thread linked to each answer.
